Caveat: I can't talk to regular assault suits. If you aren't going for a "real logistic" (i.e. Logibro) logistics suits may not be your optimum path. You may want to look at either Sentinel or Commando suits or an Assault suit that meets your needs. Logi suits trade E slots for effective HP and speed.
The 'auto-repair bonus' is minimal, and shouldn't be your driving factor.
Amarr logi suits have the absolute lowest PG of all of the logi suits by default (like the Caldari have the lowest CPU) and reach their 'prime' in Advanced with the most number of 'effective slots'
Here's a quick breakdown of Logi suits that I put together: At Prototype Level: Ama - | H3 | L4 | E3 1/1 - Armor Repair Module bonus (10 Slots)+Sidearm Lowest PG Cald - | H5 | L4 | E3 | 1/- - Shield Regulator bonus (12 Slots) Lowest CPU Galle - | H3 | L5 | E4 | 1/- - Equipment takes less CPU/PG (12 Slots) Highest effective CPU/PG Minm - | H4 | L4 | E4 | 1/- - Faster Hacking (12 Slots) Second Highest CPU/PG
At proto Amarr is down 1H and 1E slot, it has the lowest PG rating (but it gets a sidearm). Of the four suits Amarr has the 2nd highest base Shields and ties for highest Armor. It is the slowest moving @ R4.5m/s S6.4m/s but has the longest sprint distance at 89.6m.
Gallente leads the pack with 5L slots, giving an additional slot for CPU/PG upgrades AND having the suit bonus that decreases equipment costs. This gives it the CPU/PG to 'have all the equipment'. Gallente max sprint distance is 82.5 with movement speed of @R4.6m/s S6.6m/s.
Caldari has the highest @ 5H, but the lowest overall CPU and fewest L slots to up PG/CPU. Lowest Armor means vulnerable to weapons that can ignore shields. Caldari maximum sprint distance is 75.9m with the same base movement value as Gallente @R4.6m/s S6.6m/s.
Minmatar is balanced middle of the road, but has no decreases for CPU/PG, potentially the 'squishiest' for overall damage as it has neither the highest nor lowest Armor. It moves the fastest @ R5m/s S7m/s and comes in 2nd to Amarr in terms of sprint distance @ 84m.
Advanced: Amarr - | H3 | L3 | E3 | 1/1 (9 Slots)+Sidearm Calda - | H3 | L2 | E3 | 1/- (8 Slots) Gallen - | H2 | L3 | E3 | 1/- (8 Slots) Minma - | H3 | L3 | E3 | 1/- (9 Slots)
At advanced Minmatar and Amarr are 1 slot overall up on the rest of the suits, BUT Amarr also has a sidearm.
Basic: Amar - | H2 | L2 | E2 | 1/1 (6 Slots)+Sidearm Calda - | H2 | L1 | E2 | 1/- (5 Slots) Galle - | H- | L2 | E3 | 1/- (5 Slots) Minm - | H2 | L2 | E3 | 1/- (7 Slots)
My take is the following:
At Prototype level: The Amarr suits have fallen behind in terms of flexibility and reach their 'Peak' at Advanced. Comparing them to the other Logir suits they have solid Shield and Armor base values. But with only 3 equipment slots and 3H slots they run at a disadvantage. Additionally, Amarr suits pay the price in terms of the slowest base movement speed, but they have the sidearm weapon slot.
Gallente suits have the potential to 'Have all the tricks' at the cost of lower shields, but they only tie Amarr suits in terms of Armor. However, with an additional L slot have another 'Ace' up their sleeve to add more armor, a cardiac regulator or more CPU/PG.
Minmatar suits are a solid 'All-Rounder' with no major flaws and move the fastest.
Caldari suits have excellent shield values, but they are CPU limited and equipment slot limited, maxing out at 3E. But 5H slots beats out the 3H slots from Amarr.
At Advanced Level: Amarr has the most 'effective' number of slots at 9+Sidearm and solid Armor/Shield values.
Minmatar ties Amarr for the same number of slots. They have middle of the road Armor/Shields and no decreases to base CPU/PG. T
Gallente "Only" has 8 slots (down one from the Minmatar 9) but still comes in first for effective CPU/PG. 2H slots will limit shield options, but the high base Armor value may keep them from being too squishy.
Caldari suits are solid, but the low CPU values and only 2L slots will make for tight fits on equipment.
At Basic Level: Minmatar suits have it in spades. With 7 slots they are CPU/PG limited and MUST move out of the Militia level gear unless they use CPU/PG upgrades or upgrade appropriate skills. They are an excellent bang for the ISK. The only suit type that has a BPO option.
Amarr suits have the sidearm ... this benefit is excellent for folks trying to move into the Logi role, and allows one to have an Anti-Vehicle weapon in combination with something like an SMG. Like the Minmatar suit it will be CPU/PG limited, but with only 2E it lacks the Logistic flexibility (Which combo of equipment should I take this time?) Especially due to it having the lowest PG of the group.
Gallente suits can stick with Militia gear until the space hamsters come home. But their lack of H slots leaves them without shield options until advanced. With the highest effective CPU/PG they give loads of flexibility as one moves into advanced equipment. They can manage full loads of Advanced gear even at basic level without needing to move into 'Advanced Suits' for the additional CPU/PG.
Caldari suits tie Amarr for H and E slots. However with the lowest CPU and only 1L slot, they're going to be the most CPU limited of the suits at basic level. |
